Brave SC 5–0 Brevard SC
Four second-half goals, a bicycle kick, and the most complete performance of our season.
Matheus Ferreira opened it in the twelfth minute with a rocket from outside the box, and we went in at the break a goal up having created plenty more. We had beaten Brevard twice already this season without ever adding a second. That changed after half time.
Alvaro Carrera got the second. Galina played a superb ball forward to Rodriguez, who took five or six Brevard players out of the game with a single pass, and Carrera finished it.
Worth saying something about Alvaro here. He arrived at this club through an open tryout, worked his way up through our UPSL side, and finished 2023 tied for our scoring lead with four goals. That second put him halfway to last season's total before June was out.
Then Fabio Rodriguez decided to ride his bicycle.
A cross came in, he could not settle it, so he did not bother trying. Overhead, into the net, 3–0.
He got a second not long after — a rather more conventional finish, picking his spot and rolling it inside the right post — for his brace and our fourth.
Nico Diaz added his second of the season in stoppage time, and the strike was worth the wait.
5–0.
Tavon Menden came on for his first minutes of the season, having been on the eighteen for all three matches so far.
Getting chances has not been the problem for us this year. Putting them away has. A five-goal night is the answer to that, whoever the opposition.
Back here next Saturday for a rematch with Brooke House FC — live, or afterwards on our YouTube channel.
