The Villages SC 1–1 Lakeland Tropics
A real fight for the top of the SoutheastDivision!
Most of the Divisions in the 2018 PDL season have a clear front-runner but that is not the case in our Division. The top 3 teams are very close in points and when they play each other the games have been as competitive as it gets. During Saturday's game vs Lakeland Tropics (the top team at that time) the Buffalo score first with a beautiful goal from Augusto Maciel (see below.) Those watching couldn't take their eyes off the field as both teams battled from beginning to end. We out shot the Tropics just as on the previous games but not by much. They were able to score in the second half bringing the final score to 1x1. This time the result was true to the game. It was a fairly clean game with many players greeting each other after the game with mutual respect and admiration.
Our next challenge will come this Wednesday, June 20th as we take on the current #1 team, SIMA Aguilas at their home field. The coaches are working very aggressively on finishes. The importance of the game is on everyone's mind and the team wants to make sure no opportunity is wasted.
We scored first and went in 1–0 up at half time.
Lakeland leveled after the break. 1–1.
Every point in that run-in mattered. This was one of them.
