The Villages SC 1–0 Tampa Bay United
Southeast Division champions again :-)
20' — Alvaro Carrera.
He won a tackle near the halfway line, looked up, saw Thomas Miles off his line, and lobbed him from distance. Over the goalkeeper's head and in.
"Alvaro Carrera catches Tampa Bay United unawares. A tackle at nearly midfield, spots Miles out away from the goal, sends it up — and The Villages lead one to nil."
1–0, and we defended it for seventy minutes.
Tampa Bay had nothing to lose and played like it. Their best spells came in the second half and they pushed to the final whistle, with their goalkeeper up in our box at the very end.
Enrique Luro headed away the last ball of the match.
"An excellent effort by Tampa Bay United, giving the Buffalo everything they could have asked for, pushing all the way to the very end."
Mathias Tieppo started in goal behind Austin Lukaszic, Enrique Luro, Leonardo Andrade and Nikolai Muench, with Pedro Santos holding and Matheus Ferreira and Fred Ferreira ahead of him.
How this season went at The Range.
It began with a 1–1 against Florida Elite, a goal surrendered in the second half. A week later we led the same opponent for nearly eighty minutes and lost it in the last ten, including a penalty in stoppage time, finishing with nine men.
Man of the Match once more, Mathias Tieppo. This time, he was chosen by the people in a game that solidified our top spot in the Southeast Division!
Those two matches shaped the whole summer. And we still won the division.
Fourth Southeast Division title in seven years. Off to the Southern Conference playoffs as champions.
A division title is the first step. A conference championship is next.
That is what this group is going for.
