Could this be the year of redemption?

Maybe, if the stars align...

During our Inaugural Season in 2016 we did had a #Cupset. That is the termused to describe the underdog winning during the Open Cup.

It happened in the 2nd round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup at our game vs. Charleston Battery. We came out of the field as winners. A true #Cupset.

But only a few hours after the game we received the devastating news that our team had been DISQUALIFIED. Yes, disqualified. The reason, "fielding a player that was deemed 'cup-tied'". Without going into too much detail as to why we still feel that this was a unfair decision we fast forward to 2019.

Our team is today getting ready to again play in the 2nd round of this wonderful competition (3 years in the making). As news about the game pours in, all articles point to 2016 when we "won the 2nd round but were disqualified". As more people come to find out about our club it is unfortunate disqualified is used so much to describe our run in the Open Cup.

It won't be easy as the Tampa Bay Rowdies have not lost a game this season. But we are very much looking forward to tonight. The chance to re-write history,or at least part of it.

The winner of tonight's game are schedule to play OKC Energy, Oklahoma orNTX Nayados, Texas, in the 3rd round of competition on May 29th.

Long time Buffalo fans will remember that in 2016 we won the SoutheastDivision. After winning our division we set off to Oklahoma to play the SouthernConference playoffs in none other than the OKC Energy Stadium. We did notwin the Conference that year but were able to reach the playoffs.

Redemption

Like I said before, if all the stars align we could not only redeem ourselves from the 2016 Open Cup disqualification but can again end up playing against OKC Energy.

Yes, there are a lot of things that needs to happen to make that possible but wouldn't it be nice?

Playing against all odds and with a chip on our shoulder, Let's do thisBUFFALO!
