September 4–7, 2015
The first The Villages Cup filled the Polo Grounds for an entire Labor Day weekend.
Sixty teams. Over seven hundred players. A hundred and one matches in three days. Three thousand people on site, every day.
Teams came from across Florida — some of them driving three hours to get here. Boys and girls, ages seven to nineteen, sanctioned by the US Soccer Federation.
Our location is second to none.
Every match was played at a first-class polo facility, all in one place. Families could watch one child play, walk a hundred yards, and watch the next.
The people who made it happen
Miss Sumter County presented the awards.
The Villages CERT — the Community Emergency Response Teams — provided first aid across the whole weekend, volunteering their time. Fernandina Leaders Club had their volunteers help with concessions.
And all our wonderful volunteers.
