The Villages SC 5–1 South Florida Surf**
Level at half time, a lightning delay, and then four goals.
---
Half time: 1–1.
South Florida Surf had beaten us twice in 2016 — in our first ever PDL match and again at the Polo Club. They were level here with forty-five to play.
Then the storm came in and everybody went inside.
We waited it out and came back.
Four more goals after the restart.
5–1.
The Villages SC leads the PDL in goals scored.
The five against South Florida Surf took us to thirty-six for the season — a significant margin clear of the next best club in the league. Not the division. The league.
Since the PDL moved to a fourteen-match regular season in 2013, the most goals any club has scored in a season is 46, by the Michigan Bucks in 2015.
We have five matches left and we are on thirty-six.
Ten goals in five matches would equal it. We are currently averaging four a game.
And we started the season with three defeats.
No points and almost no goals through the whole of May. Then 6–0 at Weston, 8–3 at the Rowdies, 4–0 against IMG, 7–0 at the Suns, and 5–1 on Saturday.
Twenty-six in five.
Five matches to go.
