Four past Lakeland, and a truck full of food

The Villages SC 4–0 Lakeland Tropics

Finally, Lakeland at home. We gave them a Buffalo welcome.

Half time: 2–0.

Full time: 4–0.

A clean sheet against the club we had already met twice this season — a 1–1 in the league at their place in May, and before that ten rounds of penalties in the U.S. Open Cup, which we won 8–7.

This one was not close.

Man of the Match: Yago Lopes "Always solid in defence. Instrumental in making sure we had a clean sheet."

Three meetings with Lakeland this season. A shootout, a draw, and now four without reply — and Yago at the back for the one that finished with nothing conceded.

Fill the Truck

Our annual food drive with the UConn Sports Club of The Villages ran at this match.

People brought non-perishable food. One bag, one raffle ticket. The drawing was at half time, with prizes including fan apparel and gift cards donated by local businesses.

Every item went to local food banks.

What people brought: canned vegetables, soup and fruit · canned meats — beef, chicken, pork, tuna · pasta and macaroni and cheese · peanut butter and jelly · dried rice and beans · instant potatoes · pancake mix and cereal.

Second year running. We did this for the first time at our last home match of 2018, with the same partners — the Huskies filled a truck, then stayed to watch and cheer our players on.

Four goals, a clean sheet, and a truck full of food for people in our community.

Thank you to everybody who brought a bag.
