Please introduce yourself to the Buffalo family.
“I’m originally from Middlesborough, a small town in the northeast of England. I started playing football when I was 9, which was actually a late start, but I took to it straight away, because I was blessed with one thing, speed, which helped me get seen. When I was 13, I got picked up by a professional club, Middlesborough FC, in the English second division. Then I got called to Blackpool FC, where I spent 3 years before I got this opportunity here.”
What made you want to spend your summer at Brave SC
“For me, Brave stood out for 2 things, 1 was the history of the club and all the things they won in such a short amount of time. The second was the culture and the diversity. Before I came here, I had never played with Brazilian or Spanish players. It’s amazing to see the different ways of life and how we’re all still connected through soccer.”
What are the differences between where you grew up and The Villages, Florida?
“One of the main differences is the weather. Back in England, it’s constant gray skies, always raining. Here, it’ll be 8 in the morning and I’m getting ready for training and it’s 30° C degrees (86° F). Also, I feel like the people here are a lot friendlier. When they hear the English accent, everyone's really interested in where I’m from and why I’m here.”
Talk about your goal from Saturday, what was your thought process?
“The defender had been attached to me all game. Then, I managed to free up some space, and waited for the ball to come. It was at a perfect height to where I could tell he wouldn’t be able to get his head on it. I jumped up and the ball hit my foot, that the contact was perfect. Then I saw the net ripple, I didn’t even see the ball go in but I heard everyone scream. It was a great moment, I loved it.”
What do you want to say to the Brave SC fans as we approach our home opener?
“I’d like to say firstly thank you for welcoming me, and for making me feel a part of the team and the community, I just hope we get to see more of your faces coming out to the games and supporting us.
