One goal in it at Southern Oak

Jacksonville Armada FC 2–1 The Villages SC

The 105th U.S. Open Cup opened at Southern Oak Stadium on Sunday evening, and the first goal of the entire tournament was scored six minutes into our match.

Ciarán Kilduff got his head to a cross from Michael Melvin. One down, barely started.

We were level by the fifty-eighth. Gabriel Torres struck it low and long from distance, and for a quarter of an hour it was anybody's tie.

On seventy-one, Mechack Jérôme's free kick bounced around our penalty area and Wesley Charpie got there first.

2–1. Our third year in this competition and our third year going out to a single goal.

We were the amateur side on that field against an NPSL club, away from home, in the opening match of the oldest tournament in the country, and there was one goal in it.

Three weeks until the league season starts. We will use this.
