Three by half time

The Villages SC 4–0 Weston FC

Three goals in the first thirty-two minutes, and Weston were making substitutions before the interval trying to find a way to stop it.

Cedric Tatu started it in the eighth minute — a laser that took a deflection on the way and flew into the top of the frame.

The second followed, and then on 32 minutes came the best of the night. Daniel Oliveira picked the ball up, turned, and everybody in the ground expected him to slide it to Nick Butler. He hit it instead. It was a rocket, and it went in.

Oliveira had gone close minutes earlier from a free kick and been denied. He was not going to be denied twice.

3–0 at half time, after forty-five minutes in which we were patient in possession, moved the back line up slowly, stayed compact, and then punished them every time they came out.

Then the fourth.

It started with Eric Ganime calmly winning the ball back in defence. It ended with Leo Paiva working against several defenders, a give-and-go between him and Fall, and Paiva unselfishly rolling it across for a tap-in rather than taking it himself.

Fall's second of the season, which puts him level with Paiva at the top of our scoring charts.

4–0. A clean sheet, four goals, and a night where the corners we have been winning all season finally started going in.

Man of the Match: Daniel Oliveira. Pressing. The word that made him Man of the Match. He made important passes playing well with his teammates and also took invidual chances that paid off.

Next up: FC Miami City away on Wednesday, a rematch of the 3–0 we won here earlier in the season. Then Florida Elite back here on the Saturday after — a 1–0 win last time, decided by Paiva, and one of the most intense matches of our season.

Come out for it.
