It took us a while to get going, but, in the end, we got the result we wanted from our trip to Melbourne. Despite a scoreless first half, we defeated Brevard 4-1.We were concerned about the weather and wanted to score early, in case the game was shortened due to lightning, but we got the full 90 minutes in uninterrupted and left with an important win.
Matheus and Fabio stayed hot!
For the third match in a row, both Matheus Ferreira and Fabio Rodriguesscored. Matheus put us on the board by hammering home a deflected shot andFabio matched him just 6 minutes later with a rifle under the crossbar. But Brevard SC answered back. The home side cut the lead to one, scoring ona corner kick in the 63rd minute to keep the pressure on.
The boys responded, though!
It wasn't close for long. Alvaro Carrera scored in the 68th minute, tapping homea cross from Nico Diaz for his third tally of the year. Then, in the 75th, Lui Bradbury scored his first goal of the season on a shotfrom a tough angle that he placed in the top right corner to give us a 4-1 leadand our Prima Play for the game.
Coach's Corner
Here's what head coach Anderson DaSilva had to say about the victory: "The first half was very challenging because the weather wasn't too good, wewere concerned a bit with lightning, and we were forcing the ball a little bitbecause we didn't want to take the risk (of not scoring before a potential delay)We managed to hit the crossbar, a couple close finishes, but we couldn't score.I think we still kept control of the game. There wasn't much danger in our side."
Man of the Match: Niclas Wittur
Niclas Wittur earned man of the match honors after starting the game at centerback and sparking the offense with a halftime move to left back. Here's whatCoach DaSilva had to say about his performance:He brought seriousness to the game, working to find space in the offensive half.He demanded the ball and didn't waste time attacking when we didn't havepossession, then pushed forward when we did.
