U.S. Open Cup 1st Round: The Villages SC Nets Late Winner
What a game! On the edge of our seats with many shots ongoal but the ball just wasn't going in. Then, it happened! The Villages SC’s Pedro Dias scored in the second minute of second-halfstoppage time to lead his side to a 1-0 victory against the NPSL’s Kraze Unitedon Wednesday in the First Round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup atThe Villages Polo Field.
During the winning sequence, The Villages gained possession in midfield and provided a nice through ball to Dias rushing in from the right side. Dias shot low into the left side of the frame for the winning shot.
In Second Round of the tournament we will face the USL’s Charleston Battery. That match takes place on Wednesday, May 18, at MUSC Health Stadium inCharleston, S.C. (7:30 p.m. ET).
We are going to South Carolina: Wednesday, May 18at 7:30 p.m. at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston.
Because we are going to stay overnight we will not be inviting our fans to travel with us for this game.
Winner from the May 18th game will play Jacksonville Armada FC 7:00p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 1 at Southern Oak Stadium on the campus of Jacksonville University.
