Winter Summit
The USL PDL Winter Summit was held this past weekend in Tampa, FL. More than 120 franchise representatives attended meetings on the state of the league, streaming production, best practices, game day and more. Meetings were productive and we came back re-energized. Highlights of thisyear's Summit:
-Runner-up in the photography category. Brian Gordon, our photographer, loves taking pictures just as much as he loves the game so it was very nice to be recognized by the league in this category.
- The scheduling of our games. It is always a bit chaotic. Representatives from all 10 divisions in one room shouting at once. Feels somewhat like the floor of the stock exchange. "Can you play this day?" or "I can come to you on thisday." A little tense but at the end, everyone smiles because what matters is thatwe have dates and those dates mean we get to play.
Changes to the Southeast Division:
Our Division will have 8 teams in 2018. Leaving us this season is the TampaBay Rowdies U23. The Rowdies will continue to have their USL (Division 2) team but not their PDL team. Also changing this year are two teams that have rebranded themselves:
-South Florida Surf will now be "North County United"
-Palm Beach Suns FC will now be "Next Academy Palm Beach"
