An own goal, a red card and a lightning delay

The Villages SC 1 v Nona FC 2

Some nights everything arrives at once.

Nona went ahead through an unfortunate own goal. Nothing anybody could do.

The score was unchanged at the water break.

Then our number 20 was sent off, and we played on a man down.

Nona scored again. 0–2.

And then the lightning came.

The plan was to restart at 9:29pm. The players went back out for warm-ups a few minutes beforehand — a man short, two goals down, after an hour of sitting in a dressing room waiting on the weather.

And then we scored. 1-2

"Own goal, red card and lightning delay. I guess that about sums it up."

The end… for now.

On a very special note we said goodbye to Jennifer Gianikas. Our incredibely talented and caring manager. She worked with our club always going above and beyond at every single task. But that is not what made her special, she was an will continue to be a dear friend and will be missed very much. If you were involved with the Buffalo Family in any way in the past few years, you know what Jennifer means to this club.

She will be missed more than we can say.

Thank you, Jennifer, for everything. Forever a Buffalo!
