away win in Miami

FC Miami City 1–3 The Villages SC

An away win in Miami on an eighty-five-degree afternoon, in the middle of the run that would take us to the Southern Conference.

We scored in the 14th minute and controlled the pace of the first half from there. 1–0 at the break.

Felipe Antonio got the second early in the second half, working a give-and-go with Paiva before finishing. Antonio's speed was the difference all afternoon — Miami had no answer to it, and he was involved in almost everything we created.

Douglas dos Santos made it 3–0, rolling in from the far side.

Miami pulled one back from the penalty spot with eight minutes to go, and finished the match with ten men after a red card in the 86th.

3–1

MAN OF THE MATCH Tim McGlynn

Tim McGlynn was steady throughout, including one collision in his own six-yard box that had everybody holding their breath. Their best chance of the afternoon came off the side bar.
