The Villages 2 - 0 Lakeland Tropics
Half time: 0–0
Full time: 2–0
Lakeland's supporters travelled, and they brought a drum with them, and they made themselves heard.
Then our end started.
A win against one of the three clubs in the title race. Just what we needed.
> "It was awesome getting the win in front of all those Lakeland fans. Especially the ones with the drum."
> "That drum... it was great when we started cheering louder over their drums and cheers."
Man of the Match: Tim McGlynn.
Great saves, and they kept it goalless long enough for us to win it. Our PA announcer very nearly made the recommendation live over the microphone before the official decision came through.
And it was Family Fun Day with The Villages Insurance.
They brought their staff and their families out for a night at the Polo Club.
Before kickoff we set up kids' stations, and our players came out and played with the children — games with a soccer ball, nothing complicated, just footballers spending time with kids who had come to watch them.
At half time the adults played games at centre field.
> "Thank you Villages SC for putting this together for our TVIP families. We had a fantastic time!"
Great work fellas.
