Eighteen shots and no goal

The Villages SC 0–0 SIMA Aguilas

Everybody expected a battle. Players and coaches had been talking about the importance of this one for days.

Three clubs have shown themselves to be contenders this season: us, SIMA Aguilas and Lakeland Tropics. We went into this knowing that to stay in the title race we needed a result.

The fans came out again and the atmosphere was excellent.

The ball just would not go in.

We kept most of the possession.

Eighteen shots on goal. Two goals called offside.

SIMA had eight shots.

Our defenders were outstanding — SIMA's attackers, who were among the strongest in this division, were given almost no room all evening.

Supporters were close to coming out of their seats more than once. We got close that many times.

0–0.

Our players left that field believing they were the better team, and the numbers say they were right.

But that is soccer, isn't it.
