Weston FC 0–0 The Villages SC
After almost two years, it was finally here.**
The last competitive match this club played was a conference semifinal in Columbia, South Carolina, in July 2019. The 2020 season was cancelled. Everything since had been waiting.
Weston played a very defensive game and made sure not to allow a goal from the Buffalo.
0–0 at half time. Then a long lightning delay, because of course there was.
Interesting last minutes, several attempts, and nobody could find the net.
0–0.
Man of the Match: Cedric.
Important during transition, and quick in recovery — the two things that keep a match goalless when neither side can break the other down.
Cedric joined this club through an open tryout.
Our first game of the Season vs Weston FC at their home did not give us the result we were hoping for in our first game. I guess the curse of the first game is alive and well in 2021.
For those that have followed our team since 2016 will have notice the “not-so-good” game results in our first games is a thing.
The Buffalo played well but couldn’t find the net. We credit also Weston FC for keeping us out of the net and showing talent from their young squad.
We see Weston again on June 5th, this time at our home field.
