Five in twenty-two minutes, and five up at half time.
And look at who was on the field.
Carrera and Andrade were both suspended after the red cards on Wednesday. Several of those who started here had never started for this club before. And in the middle of the back line, Yago Lopes — an assistant coach on this staff — played centre back.
"Coaches in just about every sport talk about wanting a coach on the field. Tonight Anderson Da Silva literally has that, with a member of his coaching staff playing centre back."
Mathias Tieppo started in goal, with Pedro Santos, Oscar Rosano, Fred Ferreira, Yao Santos, Matheus Ferreira, Nikolai Muench, Austin Lukaszic and Felipe Rude.
The opener came from a superb run by Nikolai Muench all the way up the right, around Mefford, and a cross Rosano finished first time. Rosano got a second when Noah Hawkins made an outstanding save from Fred Ferreira and could not hold the deflection.
Man of the Match: In the fun game that brought us a lot to celebrate Alvaro Carrera was instrumental. He moved up from our UPSL team and is now a strong piece of the USL2 puzzle.
Four wins, two draws, one defeat. Three days earlier we had led Florida Elite for nearly eighty minutes and finished with nine men. This was the answer, from a patchwork eleven with a coach at centre back.
Florida Elite away on Wednesday, in Jacksonville. A crucial one for both clubs.
