Eleven minutes in, and ninety minutes of holding on

The Villages SC 1–2 Florida Elite SA

We led this for nearly eighty minutes against the best team in the division, and lost it in the last ten.

The two best defences in the country met here. We came in having conceded one goal in five matches — 0.2 per game, the lowest rate in all of USL League Two, across 122 clubs. Florida Elite arrived top of the Southeast, four points ahead of us, having lost once all season.

Anderson went 4-4-2: Mathias Tieppo in goal, a back four of Leonardo Andrade, Enrique Luro, Nikolai Muench and Pedro Santos, a midfield of Nick Lukaszic, Victor, Matheus Ferreira and Felipe Rude, with Lucas Mauro and Oscar Rosano ahead of them. Nick Butler started on the bench.

11' — Matheus Ferreira.

A corner that ran all the way across the box, a beautiful cross, and a smooth chipped finish from the back post. He was the only one of ours who had gone all the way up. Beautifully designed, and he was waiting exactly where he needed to be.

1–0.

And then we defended it, for an hour and a quarter.

Jacob Randolph was outstanding at the other end — two saves from Fred Ferreira that the commentary rated the best of his night, and another from Muench from distance. Luro and Mauro both threw themselves in front of the same shot at one point and the referee had to help them both back to their feet.

Florida Elite equalised inside the final ten minutes, and won it from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

We finished with nine men. Alvaro Carrera and Leonardo Andrade were both shown red cards.

2–1. Florida Elite's first ever win at our ground.

Two matches against them in eleven days at The Range, both decided late, and four points gone. They stay top of the Southeast.

We go to Jacksonville a week tonight.
