Tell us about that game you were selected for Man of the Match.
I think we played really well. The best thing about good teams is finding a way to win no matter the situation. When they tied we could have been like, oh, it's over. But we came back. We wanted it more than them. I think having our fans at home and the whole atmosphere also helped.
The goal that did go in for them. What do you think happened?
I blame myself for their goal. I think it was my mistake that led to that second cross coming back in and them scoring, which I did beat myself up for. But in the run of play, you can't really hold on to mistakes for too long, especially in my position. So you have to move on and keep playing.
You had several big saves during that game. Tell me how you felt after, especially being the first win at our new home field.
I think in situations like that I'm never necessarily too happy for myself, but more so for my team and the people around my team, because you can see the way it makes them feel. So I was happy to have done that well for my team and to make everybody happy.
What do you think is different this year?
We have a whole new team almost, only a few returners, and it's a whole different energy. I think from the jump we've all gelled together and it's clear what the goal is, anything shorter than a national championship is a failure. So each day of training, we're all pushing towards it.
How do you feel like the chemistry in the field is building?
It's good. I think we've done a good job of appointing the captain like in Caio, who sets the standard and we follow behind. We have a good group of guys, I'd say men that are focused on the goal. We're all trying to keep a certain standard.
When you're not playing soccer, what do you do?
When I’m not playing, I’m watching soccer. So there's no life outside.
Do you have a message to the fans ahead of the next game?
Thank you. We are going to keep doing what we're doing and I hope we continue to win. Thank you guys for the support.
