The Villages SC 2–2 Nona FC
A point that took us top of the Southeast Division, and the best goal of our season.
13' — Nikolai Muench. From outside the box, right foot, and Cole Hunter saw it, dived the right way and could not hold it — the pace took it off his fingers and in.
"One of the better shots you'll see."
That is Muench's second enormous goal in eight days, after scoring the winner at Florida Elite the week before.
Nona had thought they were ahead minutes earlier, a header ruled out for offside.
20' — Danilo Seglio levelled it for Nona, closely defended and finishing past Tieppo to the wide side of the net.
And then Lucas Mauro.
He worked around two defenders, got to the touchline with Cole Hunter in his face, and put it into the upper netting — ending up in the supporter section.
"What an effort by Lucas Mauro. USL League Two, bookmark that one for your goal of the week."
"It's got to be close to the best, if not the best, goal by The Villages SC this season."
2–1.
Nona equalised again before the break, and neither side could find a third.
2–2
Lucas Mauro strikes again, literally with focused effort throughout the game, and with a beautiful goal, he is once more our Man of the Match.
Jonathan Avila made his first start for the club. Tieppo started in goal behind Austin Lukaszic, Alvaro Carrera, Avila and Enrique Luro.
The table after it: we move into first place on 21 points, level with Florida Elite and ahead on goal difference. Nona stay a point back on 20.
Two matches left — Swan City on Wednesday, Tampa Bay United on Saturday. Win both and the Southeast Division is ours.
