The kick off is only 3 days away, with the first match on Wednesday on the road against Sporting Jax. Intensity is ramping up at practice with the first match just around the corner. Goalie coach Sergio Santos was able to talk about what the game day preparation looks like for the keepers.
Film becomes an important part of the training as games near, with Coach Sergio saying “… I watch videos from the other team, and if I see that they cross a lot and we work on crosses.” Sergio was alson able to give perspective on the defense for this season. He talked about the struggles of bringing in two new defenders with limited training time, but complimented Head Coach Anderson DaSilva on his ability to generate good defenses year after year.
Coach Anderson has made it clear that the expectation is a national championship. He called upon players by name, telling them that everyone needs to be at their best for the team to reach its goals. We'll be sure to share links and information on how to watch this game.
Testing the waters
Practice has begun shifting emphasis from technical into strategic. To test the team we had our first friendly against GGS from Ocoee. After the game, Coach Anderson talked to the team about being more patient on the attack, and making use of the space opponents will provide. With this being the first time so many of the players have played together, every training opportunity is another chance for growth in skill and in chemistry.
