The first Ambassador Class

They are now Ambassador.

March 19, 6:00pm, Seabreeze Recreation Center, Daytona Beach room.

We ran our first Ambassador Class — free, open to anybody who registered, and limited only by the size of the room.

What we covered: the history of this club and where it came from. Where it is going. How the PDL works, and where it sits in the pyramid. The wider US soccer environment and how a club like ours fits into it.

Thank you to everybody who came out.

Why we did it.

Most people in this community did not grow up with soccer. A good number arrived here from places where the sport barely registered, and the ones who do follow it often follow clubs three thousand miles away.

We could sell tickets and hope. Or we could sit people down for an evening and explain what this is — what league we play in, who the players are, why it matters that a town of this size has a team in a national competition at all.

We chose the second one.

If you understand what you are watching, you are far more likely to come back. And if you understand where the club came from, you are far more likely to care what happens to it.

Great things to come.
