The Villages SC 2–1 Orlando City B**
Osceola Heritage Park. Behind closed doors. Called at 75 minutes for lightning.
Inside the first minute
Daht Faal won it back on a high press, took the ball off the Orlando City defence in front of their own box, and put it past the goalkeeper.
1–0, barely a minute in.
Orlando City had been passing it back to their keeper under pressure, and Faal was waiting. Anderson had his side stepping up from the middle third to press the centre backs and make life complicated for them, and it worked immediately.
And the second
Faal again — but this time he did not shoot.
> "Fall, usually a shooter, stops, makes the pass, and Oliveira got an easy one. Just slips it past the Orlando City goalie and it's two nil."
Daniel Oliveira with the finish, Faal with the unselfish ball.
2–0 at the break.
The second half
Orlando City pulled one back and pushed hard for an equalizer from a penalty kick.
By the end, Jackson Lee, Chris Dilan and Dot Faal were the only starters still on the field — most of the rest having been rotated through.
2–1 at 75 minutes, when the lightning came.
Game called due to weather — Buffalo up 2–1
Orlando City B were between things that summer — sitting out of league competition and preparing for the MLS reserve league launching in 2022. We were told they would have MLS players in the squad, which is why the gates were shut.
Our own supporters spent the build-up negotiating their loyalties in public, because several of them also support Orlando City.
