Eitan Grimberg, talked to a few players after practice about what happened last game and how the Buffalo will get back on track. Leonardo Andrade described the feeling in the house as “the worst possible.” He went on to talk about how players didn’t come to Brave to lose, and that the house was very quiet following the loss.
Niclas Wittur echoed Leo, but tried to stay positive. He spoke about the key to victory on Wednesday is to play as a team and as a family. He said, “Each of us has to do his part, and then fight for each other as a team.”
When asked about the energy surrounding the team, Nicolai Muench mentioned the team’s frustration and that it stemmed from the fact that “... three games now where we didn’t get the result we wanted. It’s not just a result that we didn’t want, but also, I think, the playing style hasn’t been where we should be.” Teams lose games, but the frustration from the players was because they felt like they should be playing better.
For Nico Diaz, it has been especially hard as he has been unable to play due to an injury. He commented on a changing energy, saying, “I feel a positive shift in the group." Now feeling better, Nico is looking forward to the potential of being back in the lineup on Wednesday and to be able to help the team.
Playing home
3 games on the road. 2 points. Not where we wanted to be. The feeling on the first and second game was that we played well but unfortunately didn't get the win. Last game left everyone stunned. Coach Anderson said "We lost 2x1. The result doesn't sound that bad on paper. It was a 1 goal difference but we all feel like we lost by 10 goals!"
Returning players and staff were in disbelieve. Not so much from the result but because of the way we played. After the game Pedro Santos called the team and said: "Some of your don't know what this means (pointing to the crest on his shirt). I could be on vacation with my family right now. I don't need to be here but I want to be here. This is more than a game for us. If you don't understand that then you should not be here."
We know who we are and that performance was not us.
If you are able to come to the game on Wednesday, please do. Our players really need to see people who believe in us.
Players like Leonardo who started the season at a different team but came back because the other club "just didn't feel right." Nicolai, who had an incredible last year playing in college and needs this season to go well so he can have a real chance of playing professionally. Breno who his college coach gave many other options of teams he could go to this summer but insisted he would only play for us. Pedro who finally has a chance to play for the Buffalo again. Matheus who scored twice this season but hasn't celebrated any of the goals like he usually does because he feels like we should be doing more.
Be there if you can. Tell a friend. Stay for a few minutes after the game to shake a player's hand. Help us to get back in the game.
